Belmont Officer "One Man Army"
Called a "one man army," Maj Theodore W. Noon Jr., 59 Village Hill road (sic), was decorated with the Distinguished Service Cross for valorous leadership in Italy in May, 1944.
Noon led his company throughout the battle for Santa Maria, although twice wounded early in the fight, and personally wiped out a pillbox barring the advance. Recovering from his wounds and returning to the front, he later lost a leg in action.
